
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 3

Requesting the West Virginia congressional delegation pursue
legislation requiring the National Park Service to cooperate
with the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources to
resolve problems identified by citizens of this State
concerning the lack of recreational access to the New River
and Gauley River.

Whereas, Various citizens of this state have complained
regarding the lack of access available to the New River and Gauley
River to engage in recreational activities; and

Whereas, In order for greater access to be made available it is
imperative that the National Park Service cooperate with the West
Virginia Department of Natural Resources to resolve the existing
problems associated with the lack of access; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the West Virginia congressional delegation is hereby
requested to pursue the drafting and implementation of legislation designed to require the National Park Service to cooperate with the
West Virginia Department of Natural Resources for the purpose of
providing greater access to the New River and the Gauley River so
that citizens of this State, as well as others, will have greater
opportunity to engage in recreational activities upon these rivers.

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to all West Virginia Senators and
representatives in the United States Congress.
